Colors of an Alpine Sunset

Looking out over the hilltop village of Schoerfling toward the southern Lake Atter
landscape,  from the Goldenes Schiff restaurant of the 18th-century Guesthouse Frickh.
A comment from aesethtics appreciator Euge on an earlier post, The Color of Water, inspired me this August to follow up on this exposé of an artist's appreciation of the many hues of Lake Atter (der Attersee), situated in the picturesque foothills of the Austrian Alps. Lounging around the wooden boathouse and dock of a 19-century villa provided the perfect opportunity to take some evening photographs as the setting sun and its lingering reach over the mountains cast shimmering gold and warming orange tones onto the evening sailboats and gently rolling water.

The fresh, sparkling, turquoise-blue water of Lake Atter in the daytime.

  1. Those pictures look like impressionists paintings. Full of textures and incredible light. I see Monet :-)

  2. The landscape is inspiring. I can see why Gustav Klimt and the composer Gustav Mahler spent time here.
